A handful of Fighting Falcons show that reading is FANtastic by wearing the gear of their favorite sports teams for National Young Readers Week.
On the hunt for a good book, these Falcons are enthusiastic about reading!
Fighting Falcons show we are CRAZY about reading on Crazy Sock Day!
Team Philosophy: We are here to learn, grow, and enjoy our time together. We can be most successful if each of us accepts responsibility for being honest, being respectful, and giving our best efforts to the tasks at hand.
Communication Arts
Our theme for reading is "One Land, Many Trails". It involves stories about American History at the time of the "Old West". We will be using predict/Infer, question, evaluate, and summarize skills while reading. Other skills we will work with in this theme include: using quotations, combining sentences, using pronouns, adverbs, and adjectives.
Math
We use the Everyday Math program through 5th grade in Neosho. Students will usually have one "Math Boxes" assignment and one Study link per daily lesson. Study links will go home daily and will be due the following morning. There will usually be four study links per week. Unit 4 test will be the week of November 14.
Science
We are currently studying Force and Motion. The students are learning about Newton's Laws of Motion and contact and non-contact forces. Coming up will be Simple Machines where they will learn that machines help us to do work, make it easier, and changes the direction of a force. The Simple Machine project will be the marshmallow mover that will be assigned November 21 and will be due after Thanksgiving break on November 30.
Social Studies
We will study Asia using the 5 Themes of Geography. They are: Movement, Region, Human Environment Interaction, Location and Place. Map skills will also be reinforced during this unit. The pace will be about 12 school days to complete.
